GLOfacial: From Product Development to Sold-Out Launch
My Role
As Senior Copywriter, I helped shape GLOfacial from product development through launch. I named the device, developed its foundational product romance and messaging, and helped define how its technology, benefits, and point of difference would come to life for the consumer. From there, I partnered across product development, creative, e-commerce, social, and growth to build and execute the 360Β° launch strategy across product pages, email, paid and organic social, UGC, retailer marketing, campaign assets, and conversion-focused copy.
The Strategy
The creative challenge was translating complex technology into a story that was simple, ownable, and impossible to ignore. We built the messaging around three complementary ideas: visible transformation, easy-to-understand education, and the aspirational payoff of a professional-level facial experience at home.
For performance creative, I developed and tested distinct messaging anglesβfrom the visceral βTHAT just came out of my skinβ reveal to accessible explanations like βa vortex vacuum for your poresβ and benefit-led language centered on achieving the deepest, most satisfying cleanse. UGC, short-form video, branded creative, e-commerce copy, and lifecycle messaging carried the same core product story while adapting the hook and CTA to each stage of the customer journey.

Hydration facials are all the rage and continue to rise in popularity in the beauty industry. The benefits of this trendy treatment make it a highly sought-after service for every skincare enthusiast. This in-office treatment is a multi-step, 30-60 minute process that starts by cleansing & exfoliating the skin with a specialized tip that offers a painless suction, acting as a vacuum for your pores. After removing dirt, oil, and debris, your skin is infused with intense moisturizers that quench, plump, and nourish the skin. With simplified routines being the name of the game in 2022, we are all looking for ways to get glowing skin without a lengthy skincare routine or breaking the bank. At-home skincare treatments that allow us to experience spa-level results from home are every beauty lover's dream. Technology continues to evolve to provide the ultimate level of convenience, and here at BeautyBio, we believe healthy skin doesnβt have to be complicated.
Thus, our latest launch (and the biggest launch in beauty π), The GLOfacial was born. Our revolutionary, at-home, hydro-infusion pore extraction tool is designed to give you pro-grade results with zero downtime. This game-changing tool is the perfect addition to any skincare routine and weβre breaking down everything you need to know for your most satisfying cleanse EVER!
What is GLOfacial and the Technology Behind It?
Like a vortex vacuum for your pores, the GLOfacial Tool gently extracts dirt, oil, and makeup while infusing the skin with our proprietary concentrate, leaving skin baby soft, plump, and clear.
The Vortex Vacuum Technology works with the GLOfacial Treatment Tips + clarifying Blue LED Light to flush out your pores while exfoliating dead skin cells & delivering a hydro-infusion of our plumping & hydrating concentrate. This 3-in-1 deep clean instantly helps the pores appear smaller, resurfaces skin texture, replenishes hydration levels, and boosts radiance.
What Are the Benefits of the GLOfacial Concentrate?
Your GLOfacial Tool comes with our clarifying & plumping concentrate formulated to resurface, hydrate, and give your skin the ultimate glow.
This radiance-boosting solution features clarifying Salicylic Acid, plumping Hyaluronic Acid, moisture-locking Niacinamide, and an antioxidant-rich botanical complex that delivers essential amino acids & vitamins for calm, glowing skin. While you can use your tool with water alone, we recommend using a combination of the GLOfacial concentrate & water for the best treatment results.
Choose Your Glow
When it comes to your GLOfacial treatment, youβve got options. You have the Blue Light Treatment mode + Clarifying Cap that is designed to penetrate the skin to banish blemish-causing bacteria as well as 3 suction modes and 2 Treatment Tips to choose from to customize your treatment. We recommend starting with the lowest suction mode and working your way up.
Suction Modes
Once your tool has been turned on by pressing and holding the power button once, select your desired suction mode. Press button once for low suction mode, press twice for medium suction mode, and press three times for high suction mode.
Treatment Tips
Small Treatment Tip: Designed to target smaller areas like the nose & chin.
Large Treatment Tip: Designed to target larger areas like the face, cheeks, and jawline.
The GLOfacial Routine
So how can the GLOfacial fit into your routine? Your skinβs new BFF can be incorporated into any routine from AM to PM. We recommend using 1-2x a week, but the low suction mode is gentle enough to use daily if you choose.
How to Use BeautyBio GLOfacial:
Step 1: Start by cleansing your skin with the cleanser of your choice to remove make-up, dirt, and oil from the skinβs surface.
We recommend: The Balance
Our all-in-one gel facial cleanser that removes impurities while gently resetting your skinβs pH.
Step 2: Remove your treatment chamber & pour the GLOfacial concentrate to the fill line, fill the remainder with water to dilute.
With damp skin, hold skin taut and keep your tool upright & start your GLOfacial treatment in the desired mode. Using our suggested glide path, glide the tool along the skin to gently extract the gunk thatβs hiding in your pores while giving your skin a surge of deep hydration.
Pro Tip: For best results, keep tool moving and do not hover in any one spot.
Step 3: See what was hiding below the surface by looking at your Waste Chamber! Finish off your routine by applying your favorite skincare and admire your skinβs healthy, hydrated glow.
We recommend: The ZenBubble
Our light-weight, multi-purpose gel cream that delivers intense hydration while working to instantly calm & correct blemish-prone skin.
Cleaning Your Tool
Your GLOfacial Tool comes complete with a cleaning brush that should be used to clean your tool immediately after use. Simply empty your Treatment & Waste Chambers and rinse them out while using your cleaning brush to remove any particles left behind, a gentle soap can be used if needed. Allow your chambers to dry completely before placing your tool on the charging stand.
Thatβs a wrap! In less than 5 minutes, youβve experienced a pro-grade pore detox all from the comfort of your home. You wonβt want to live without your GLOfacial Tool after your very first use - promise. Say hello to a clear, healthy, hydrated complexion, and buh-bye to blackheads, excess oil, and all the gunk hiding below your skinβs surface. We canβt wait to see all the ways you glow with GLOfacial!
Hydration Facial vs. GLOfacial Tool
Whatβs the Difference?
The in office Hydration Facial has been a top trending treatment in 2022. This results-driven facial combines painless extractions and a surge of hydrating skincare, addressing all skincare concerns from acne to fine lines & wrinkles. With the exciting launch of the GLOfacial, our at-home hydro-infusion pore cleansing tool, we wanted to iron out the differences between an in-office treatment and our at-home tool from a member of BeautyBio HQ. Here's what she discovered first hand after experiencing an in office Hydration Facial treatment & the new GLOfacial.
The real experience below is described firsthand by Whitney, a BeautyBio HQer.
Treatment Process
In-Office
It took about two weeks to get an appointment and once I arrived there was a short consultation with the esthetician to discuss my skin concerns. You have the option to include several different add-on "boosters" to your facial to target different concerns such as anti-aging and dark spots. I opted to proceed with the standard treatment without the boosters.
The process starts with a normal facial cleanse with a gentle cleanser before the treatment. There are 3 different treatment tips used during the facial. The 1st treatment tip is designed to cleanse & peel using a resurfacing solution, the 2nd treatment tip extracts & infuses the skin with hydrating solution, and the 3rd treatment tip saturates the skin with an antioxidant solution to complete the facial. My esthetician used light to medium pressure while gliding the tool across my face and at times it was a little uncomfortable. At the end of the treatment, there was a post-consultation where a few different take-home products were suggested to purchase to continue my results from home.
GLOfacial
The GLOfacial Tool arrived complete with simple directions to start my treatment. Unlike the in-office treatment, the tool comes with 2 treatment tips, a larger tip for the cheeks & forehead, and a smaller tip for the smaller areas on the face like the nose & chin. The GLOfacial Concentrate is added to the treatment chamber side of the tool & water is added to dilute the solution. I started with the larger tip, using the glide path diagram that was provided to treat the larger areas of my face. I then switched to the smaller tip to target around my nose & chin. I was able to guide the tool using the pressure & suction mode that was comfortable for me and target the areas where I felt needed the most attention.
Takeaway
Getting an in-office appointment took longer than expected with the Hydration Facial. The process was more customizable than I expected with the different facial options & booster add-ons, and while it was interesting to learn about those options it was a little confusing to figure out what would be best for me. My GLOfacial treatment was a lot easier and simple to use. The concentrate is formulated to help minimize the appearance of congested pores & the treatment tips offer the same deep cleanse just in different sizes based on preference (I love the small tip for my nose and chin!) It was so easy to do my own treatment and guide the tool using the pressure I felt like was best for my skin. Overall, I felt like I was able to better target my problem areas using the GLOfacial Tool.
Time
In-office
The entire treatment took 45 minutes with the tips being switched out during the different phases of the treatment. From start to finish, I was in-office for about 1 1/2 hours with the initial consultation & post-consult with my esthetician.
GLOfacial
The GLOfacial took about 5 minutes from the time I opened the box, to completing the treatment. The instructions were easy to read and the tool was simple to put together. The treatment was over before I knew it!
Takeaway
Any time you are comparing an in-office treatment to an at-home tool, one of the biggest draws is saving time. It's no surprise that this is one of the major differences between the Hydration Facial & The GLOfacial Tool. I was able to do my entire treatment in less than 5 minutes with GLOfacial, all from the comfort of home in my pajamas, you really can't beat that!
Cost
In-office
The Hydration Facial is pretty pricey. My facial was $175 for the basic treatment with no boosters & I did not purchase any take-home skincare. This facial can easily cost up to $400 if you decide to upgrade your treatment and purchase the skincare kit. My esthetician recommended scheduling 3 treatments, 3-4 weeks apart, to see the best results.
GLOfacial
The GLOfacial Tool comes complete with everything you need for $199. You can use the tool 1-2x a week, or daily on low suction mode. You will need to purchase a refill of the GLOfacial Concentrate as needed & replace the treatment tips every 2-3 months.
Takeaway
The Hydration Facial is a pricey investment and you will likely need more than one treatment to get your desired results, you're looking at hundreds of dollars by the time it's all said and done. The GLOfacial Tool is a much more conservative investment with the convenience of having your tool at-home to use anytime you want. You get at least 8 treatments with the small concentrate that comes with GLOfacial and itβs up to you on the refill and replacement of tips - this tool is really meant to last, so you are getting a lot more bang for your buck!
Immediate Results
In-office
Immediately after my facial my skin felt a little irritated but I did feel like my pores got a deep clean. I was able to see the back compartment of the machine where all of the dirt & oil from my pores was sucked out & my skin felt more hydrated.
I did feel that the solution was running off my face and didn't seem to soak into my skin the way I assumed it would.
GLOfacial
When I completed my first GLOfacial treatment my first thought was "WOW, that was easy!β I was excited about how little time it took and my skin felt softer than it had ever felt before. I was able to immediately see the gunk that the tool extracted in the Waste Chamber, just like the in-office facial. My skin wasn't as irritated as it had been with the Hydration Facial so I feel that the GLOfacial concentrate was a more gentle option. My skin felt very hydrated and supple, the concentrate seemed to penetrate my pores more effectively than the solution that was used during my Hydration Facial.
Takeaway:
The Hydration Facial is a more lengthy process & the solution and treatment tips seemed to irritate my skin more than expected. The GLOfacial treatment was much more simple and being able to do the treatment myself definitely made a difference in targeting my problem areas as well as the amount of pressure used when gliding the tool across my face. The GLOfacial Concentrate soaked into my pores more effectively so I felt that my skin was truly getting a surge of hydration from the inside. The GLOfacial treatment left my skin feeling more hydrated, soft, and supple than my in-office facial but both treatments did give my pores a much-needed deep clean.
Overall, there are quite a few key differences between an in-office Hydration Facial & The GLOfacial Tool. The convenience and cost-efficiency that comes with purchasing an at-home tool that you can continue to use is #1 in my book. Putting dollars back in your pocket and saving time is always a win! The Hydration Facial is something most of us cannot afford to do on a regular basis & it also requires you to set aside about 2 hours from your day for the treatment. While my results from the Hydration Facial & The GLOfacial were both great, I did feel that having someone else perform the treatment in-office didn't give me the ability to get that extra attention to my problem areas. With GLOfacial, I was able to perform my own treatment in less than 5 minutes, using the amount of pressure & guiding the tool to target the areas where I needed it most. The GLOfacial Concentrate was by far a more gentle treatment for my skin than the solution used in the Hydration Facial, and I felt that my skin really soaked it up. My skin felt less irritated and more soft & supple after my GLOfacial treatment.
My suggestion after trying both treatments is that the GLOfacial Tool is a must-have for everyone! These days saving time & money while still getting the results you need is key for any skincare routine. The GLOfacial Tool is the perfect way to get spa quality results without taking hours from your day or breaking the bank. The in-office Hydration Facial is a great treatment & you will see some immediate results, however with the price tag and time commitment, it's not a solution for everyone. You can expect a more simplified treatment with the GLOfacial treatment tips & concentrate as they are both designed to be a great solution for everyone, no matter what your skin concern is. You really can't beat having access to a pro-grade pore detox all from the comfort of home. Get ready to say buh-bye to blackheads, excess oil, and all the gunk hiding in your pores and say hello to a healthy, hydrated complexion with GLOfacial!
Our game-changing pore detox tool just hit the market β and it's making waves in beauty. The GLOfacial Hydro-Infusion Pore Cleansing Tool offers an at-home facial experience designed to gently lift away surface buildup and exfoliate the appearance of dead skin and a healthy-looking, hydrated glow. With so many at-home tools on the market, we've been getting a lot of questions about what makes GLOfacial different.
Let's break down the key differences between two popular at-home tools and our GLOfacial Pore Cleansing Tool.
At-Home Treatments
GLOfacial vs. The Other Guys
The Pore Vacuum
What it is
There are many versions of this tool available everywhere from Amazon to Ulta. These handheld vacuums rely on suction to help lift debris from pores. Many offer different suction levels and interchangeable attachments, each marketed toward different skincare goals such as uneven tone or visible aging.
How it works
Pore vacuums typically feature three levels of suction and a variety of interchangeable treatment heads. These replaceable heads can vary in size and intended use, with some tools offering up to 10 different options. As suction levels increase, users can adjust intensity based on personal preference and skin type.
During use, the tool is glided across the face while suction helps lift surface oil, dirt, and debris toward the treatment head. With many pore vacuums, this residue is either visible on the head itself or left behind on the sink or counter, as most devices do not include a sealed collection chamber. After use, the treatment heads are washed with soap and water and left out to dry.
Suction strength and consistency can vary widely depending on the pore vacuum, and many devices receive mixed feedback when it comes to maintaining suction performance over time.
Pore Vacuum Tool vs. GLOfacial
GLOfacial features vacuum vortex technology designed to gently lift away surface buildup while maintaining consistent suction throughout use. With many pore vacuums, the focus is limited to suction alone, and performance can vary from tool to tool. Pore vacuums also tend to include numerous treatment head options, which can make it difficult to understand what each one is meant to do. Do you really need one head for visible aging and another for uneven tone? A complicated routine isnβt for everyone.
The GLOfacial tool is designed to help cleanse the skin while delivering clarifying and hydrating skincare using Treatment Tips made for different areas of the face. Instead of dozens of attachments, GLOfacial keeps it simple with two thoughtfully designed tip sizes β a larger tip for broader areas of the face and a smaller tip for hard-to-reach areas like the nose and chin. Thereβs also a clarifying cap designed for use with the deviceβs blue LED mode.
Not only does GLOfacial deliver a deeply satisfying cleanse, it also works with GLOfacial Concentrates formulated with ingredients like clarifying Salicylic Acid and plumping Hyaluronic Acid to help skin look clearer, smoother, and more radiant. The enclosed Waste Chamber keeps everything neatly contained for easy cleanup β and lets you see exactly what was lifted from the surface of your skin.
Pore vacuums can vary widely in quality, making it hard to know what youβre getting from one device to the next. GLOfacial features a single, streamlined design intended to deliver a consistent, easy-to-use experience every time.
The Microdermabrasion Tool
What it is
Microdermabrasion tools are designed to exfoliate the surface of the skin using abrasive discs or caps that buff away the look of buildup on the outermost layer. Many at-home versions can be pricey and rely on replaceable treatment caps or discs that offer varying levels of exfoliation, often needing replacement after just a few uses. Some tools pair exfoliation with adjustable suction, while others operate with a single suction level. These tools are commonly marketed toward concerns like uneven texture, discoloration, and visible marks.
How it works
You begin by selecting an exfoliating disc based on your skinβs sensitivity and preferences. If youβre new to microdermabrasion tools, itβs common to start with a gentler disc and a lower suction setting. The exfoliating disc fits inside the treatment cap, and during use, the tool buffs the surface of the skin as you glide it across the face.
After use, the treatment cap collects visible surface buildup that has been lifted away. Cleanup can be a bit messy, as residue isnβt always fully contained within the cap. Once finished, the treatment cap and exfoliating disc are washed with soap and water and left out to dry.
Microdermabrasion Tool vs. GLOfacial
For starters, microdermabrasion tools arenβt always the easiest option for everyone β especially for those with sensitive skin or who are new to exfoliating tools. The sand-like exfoliation can feel intense, and results can vary depending on technique, suction level, and disc choice. While these tools focus primarily on exfoliation, that single benefit doesnβt always deliver the balanced, refreshed look users are hoping for. Exfoliation discs also tend to wear down quickly and often need frequent replacement, adding extra upkeep to your routine.
GLOfacial, on the other hand, is designed to offer a more streamlined, gentle approach. It combines light exfoliation with consistent suction using thoughtfully designed Treatment Tips, helping lift away surface buildup while keeping the routine easy and intuitive. Rather than relying on multiple discs or aggressive abrasion, GLOfacial focuses on refreshing the look of skin while pairing with hydrating and clarifying concentrates for a more well-rounded experience.
GLOfacialβs Treatment Tips are made for regular use and only need to be replaced every 2β3 months, helping simplify maintenance while delivering consistent performance.
Why GLOfacial Stands Out
Itβs easy to see why GLOfacial has become a favorite among at-home skincare tools. Unlike single-function options, GLOfacial brings together cleansing, gentle exfoliation, and customizable skincare concentrate infusion in one easy routine β all from the comfort of home.
At BeautyBio, weβre focused on creating tools and skincare that simplify your routine while helping your skin look its best. The GLOfacial Hydro-Infusion Pore Cleansing Tool is designed to elevate your at-home facial experience with one no-fuss device that delivers visible, feel-good results you can see.

Skin Purging:
Why Your Breakouts Might Get Worse Before They Get Better
ββWe've all been there: You start seeing results from your skincare routine, and your pimples start to dry up and disappear. But then, a few days later, those breakouts are back with a vengeance. You may ask: why is my skin worse after skincare? This phenomenon is known as "skin purging," and it's actually a sign that your new skincare routine is working properly. It happens when skincare ingredients begin working more intensely after initial use, and everything hiding beneath the surface is revealed. With the launch of our new GLOfacial tool, weβve got all the details about the before and after of skin purging to answer some of your questions and address concerns. So why does this happen, what can you do about it, and when will the breakouts subside? Let's learn more about skin purging and why this process is not your enemy.
What is skin purging?
Skin purging refers to the sudden appearance of more breakouts during the transition period after starting a new skincare routine and is very common.. Purging could happen anytime, but it's most common in the first few weeks. Using active ingredients such as retinol and exfoliating acids can cause purging to be more intense, and you may notice an increase in dryness and potential flakiness along with the breakouts.
Why does it happen?
The increase in breakouts signals that your body is getting rid of all the gunk hiding beneath the surface, so skin purging is a good thing. Newly introduced active ingredients increase skin cell turnover, which means shedding more dead skin cells than usual. Excess dirt, oil, makeup, and all the buildup that clogs pores is pushed to the surface and "purged" during this process. Essentially, breakouts before and after skin purging already forming under the skin are sped up during the purge, leading to the blemishes we all fear. Whiteheads, blackheads, papules (small inflamed, red bumps), and cystic (large red bumps, often painful) acne are all common during this process.
What can you do about it, and how long will it last?
If you've already gone all in with your new routine and noticed an increase in breakouts, your first reaction may be to stop altogether. However, the best thing you can do for your skin during this process is to continue your new routine and avoid introducing new products, giving your skin time to adjust. If you haven't started your new routine, you may be wondering if there is anything you can do to avoid the purge, but the answer is, unfortunately, no, not really. A more gradual transition into new products can help reduce the likelihood of intense breakouts, but you will most likely experience some form of the purge regardless. The good news is it's all temporary. Breakouts from purging typically last anywhere from 4-6 weeks. This may be a little frustrating, but you'll get through it! Keep in mind that healthy, glowing skin is worth the wait so give it some time. If your breakouts don't start to clear up after 4-6 weeks, your skincare routine may not be the cause, and you may need to consult your dermatologist for a different solution.
Skin Purging After GLOfacial Treatment
Our GLOfacial pore cleansing tool is designed to gently exfoliate and extract the gunk that hides inside your pores. With this groundbreaking treatment, skin purging is to be expected as all the dirt, oil, and makeup in your pores is brought to the surface. Trust us, this is a good thing. You don't want all that dirt and dead skin hanging around. GLOfacial's vacuum vortex technology provides gentle, yet powerful extractions while clarifying Salicylic and plumping Hyaluronic acid are infused in the skin to give your complexion a healthy, hydrated glow. You may notice an increase in breakouts shortly after your first couple GLOfacial treatments but trust the process. Continue your GLOfacial treatments 1-2x per week, even when experiencing those breakouts (GLOfacial works wonders on stubborn whiteheads & blackheads), and keep in mind that buttery smooth, flawless skin is waiting for you on the other side.
It might be annoying, but skin purging doesn't last forever. Those stubborn breakouts are simply a sign that your new skincare is working its magic. Just remember that your skin needs time to adjust to your new regime. Everyone's skin is unique, so your purge cycle may be shorter or longer than someone else. A general rule is to stick to your new routine for at least one skin cycle, about 28 days. Pay attention to how your skin is reacting, and when in doubt, always consult your dermatologist for advice. You'll have the skin of your dreams in no time if you stay consistent and patient! Keep calm and glow onβ¨
